Lithium Ferropolymer?
28/10/10
The MiniSort 3 uses Lithium Ferrorpolymer batteries. So whats this? Well, most battery powered electronic devices use Lithium ion batteries, in various guises. So why does RMG use these more expensive Lithium Ferrorpolymer batteries? Quite simply, they are safer. The MiniSort is designed for the environment of a scrap yard, where accidents happen. These Ferrorpolymner batteries will not explode when punctured. The best way to describe it is to view two YouTube videos. Lithium Ion. Lithium Ferropolymer. Quite striking really.
Its a tough old thing

We have just had an old unit back for a service and repair. It’s a MiniSort 2 and dates back to 2005. It’s the first time it’s been back to us, and this was because of a component failure. Well then, we were able to fix the component and then switched it on. The unit has obviously had a hard life - the case was badly worn and it had been dropped, heavily, causing the handle to break which had been stuck back together by the user (something we do NOT recommend). However the first test on the unit came in right where it should do.
