After investigating a little while, it turned out this was simply a misunderstanding as to what the log reset function does. When MiniSort Assistant downloads the logs from the instrument it creates a file on the computer for them. It does this each time the logs are downloaded. When you ask MiniSort Assistant to reset the logs, all it does is remove all the logs from the MiniSort. It does nothing with those already downloaded. This is always a good idea. We know how to use the MiniSort, but a new user will not. The last time the documentation was checked, we had added a section on standardization to support the FAC unit. But what exactly was standardization, as it was not explained in the documentation. To answer that specific question, it is testing the unit against known standards (hence standardisation). If there is a discrepancy, standardisation will allow a user to perform an adjustment so that the unit performs correctly. It is not offered on standard MiniSorts, as they are stable enough to perform the task of general scrap sorting. At some point we will add a glossary to the web site and to the documentation.

MiniSort Assistant Messaging

In previous version of MiniSort Assistant there was a system for sending messages direct to RMG Technology without using e-mail. The observant would have noticed that this has now been disabled. Why? Well, the messaging system was using Twitter, so that all at RMG could monitor all messages sent to us and offer the best response possible. However, Twitter has changed its authentication system to OAuth. MiniSort Assistant does not yet support this, and it is quite a bit more complicated. We will either put the effort into getting MiniSort Assistant to work with OAuth, or we will come up with a different system for direct messaging. So whats this? Well, most battery powered electronic devices use Lithium ion batteries, in various guises. So why does RMG use these more expensive Lithium Ferrorpolymer batteries? Quite simply, they are safer. The MiniSort is designed for the environment of a scrap yard, where accidents happen. These Ferrorpolymner batteries will not explode when punctured. The best way to describe it is to view two YouTube videos. Lithium Ion. Lithium Ferropolymer. Well then, we were able to fix the component and then switched it on.
